China occupys news headlines today. However, it is still beyond the common knowledge about the scale of China's official financial deployement in foreign countries. This projects presents a detailed breakdown of these projects chronogically and geographiclaly.
Since China's government does not participate in any public recording of its global financial activities, researchers and journalists could only rely on China's self-report. So far, the dataset published by AidData in 2018 is the most comprehensive source of Chinese official projects overseas.
The investments are categorized under Official Development Assistance (ODA, also known as Aid), Other Official Flows (OOF primarily for commercial or representative intentions) and Vague Official Finance.
